MUCH OF THE INFORMATION ABOUT PARROTLETS AND THEIR CARE ARE ON WEBSITES OF THOSE WHO BREED AND SELL PARROTLETS AND PRODUCTS FOR PARROTLETS. MY LINKS ARE FOR PARROTLET INFORMATION ONLY AND WILL OFTEN BE TO THE PAGE WITH THE INFORMATION RATHER THAN THE HOME PAGE OF A SELLER. A LINK DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN THAT I VOUCH FOR THAT BREEDER, STORE, OR PRODUCT.

E-MAIL LISTS

When I first thought of getting a Parrotlet the first thing I did was to locate and join several Yahoo Group e-mail lists. I will mention only those lists I personally belong to. Each of these has members that are very knowledgeable about Parrotlets and their breeding and care.

Parrotlet Express

SOME WEBSITES WITH PARROTLET INFORMATION.
MANY OF THESE HAVE THEIR OWN LINKS SO I'M KEEPING MY LINK LIST FAIRLY SHORT.

R Book 4U: An online book that covers just about anything you may want to know about Parrotlets, their care and feeding, problems, etc.

Parrotlet Basics: This page on The Parrotlet Ranch site provides information on the various Parrotlet species along with book recommendations. Other pages provide a more scientific classification, speak about various problems (feather-picking, etc.), what to do when you first bring a baby Parrotlet home, and more. There is a lot of good information here.

Loro the Parrotlet: A great site with lots of good information about Parrotlets. Included are how to find a breeder, diet, their first weeks at home, and a "Starters Kit" page with information about cages, toys, perches and other things the well-outfitted Parrotlet may need for a happy start in your home.

Shady Pines Aviary: Very nice description of the personality of these little guys, along with species and color mutation information as well as mutation genetics.

Parrotlets.us: This page has some wonderful photos, including a baby still in pinfeathers. There is some information on caring for a pet Parrotlet as well as information on the species.

Dangers!!: There are many common household things that are dangerous to Parrotlets (and all birds). Here is a page that lists and tells about many of them.

Toy Safety!: There are many bird toys sold on websites and in pet stores that are NOT safe for your birds. Check this page for information on safe and unsafe toys. Follow the text links for photos of some of the toys mentioned.

ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIETIES

The International Parrotlet Society: "The purpose of the IPS is to educate its members and promote interest in parrotlets, whether for exhibition, reproduction, care, knowledge, conservation, study, companion birds, or hobby; also to present to its members information to increase the understanding of the various genera, species and subspecies of parrotlets". If you own a Parrotlet or dozen, this is a good organization to join.
