The 1988 Tai Kai in Burbank, California. Finally something near where I lived! With me are "Sunshine" and Michael Harris.

More of the Tai Kai stuff. I don't do a lot of posing with folks for photos, but this was too good to miss. Here I am with Masaaki Hatsumi, Grandmaster of Togakure ryu Ninjutsu. (A friend who works at National Geographic refers to this quality of photo as a "fuzzygraph")

Time for a break and here I sit with Mrs. Hatsumi and Ogawa-san, a 7th dan Japanese gentleman. I trained with him and he was polite enough not to laugh out loud at my lack of skill. Nearby was a tree with a squirrel doing it's wonderful squirrel acrobatics therein and Ogawa-san mentioned that he'd like to be able to climb like that squirrel. After watching squirrels leap from branch to branch and running straight down a tree trunk headfirst I had to agree.
