Giant Puffball

Spying this Giant
Puffball from afar, I started making plans. Others may stalk
the elusive and rare Wild Haggis, but I would stalk this huge
puffball! The first step was to figure out how to get down the
steep hillside and across the stream without breaking my neck.
The simple answer to that was that I couldn't. After some backtracking
and dead ends, scrambling down muddy and steep embankments, squishing
across streams and saying naughty words as stickery vines tore
my clothing and skin, I approached my quarry. Climbing over fallen
trees, and banging my shins while being eaten alive by mosquitos,
I finally reached my goal. It's really unfornutate that it was
only after I was again home and showered that some research indicated
that these Giant Puffballs are good eatin'. I decided to forgo
the pleasure of returning to get it, however. Hopefully it'll
spread many spores for next autumn. To see the scale of this
one, scroll down.
