Again, the photo
from the show catalog is all I have. It won the Best of Show
in a state-wide art show in Anchorage, Alaska. The main body
of the column is heavy sisal rope. the top is the frayed ends
of the rope and pheasant feathers. This was my first experiment
with free-standing fiber sculpture. The judge of the show remarked
that "this is where it's at in the fiber world today".
I remember overhearing some sour-grape comments on the piece
later on. The one that sticks with me is "I'd hate to dust
the thing".
