Syrphid Fly (not a bee) on Chrysanthemum FLower

I happened to have my camera along when I stopped by one of those huge warehouse places that have a nursery section. When I saw what I thought were bees hovering over their display of flowers I rushed back to the car and spent the next hour taking photos. Now, years later a kind friend who is a biologist has pointed out this is not a bee, but a syrphid fly.
