The cidada have
just started emerging. There are so many shells on the ground,
they crunch under foot. The birds, racoons, and other small meat-eating
critters are having a feast.
The guy above is
just emerging from the shell. Below there's one completely out
of the shell, but the wings are still wrinkled and stubby.
Below is a cicada with his wings
fully extended but not yet dry.
