TO THE RIGHT HONORABLE, THE EARL FILIUS SECUNDUS PHILIP ILZIMMER II QUARTUS
Withewind 24, 850
My Lord,
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your expedience in freeing the Ambassador-Magus Thacarias Pelindar from durance vile, and to assure you that I am in your debt. My father took the liberty of imprisoning the ambassador while I was indisposed, and neglected to inform me of this imprudent and uncalled-for action as I recovered. When I learned of what he had done÷at the very moment news was brought to him of Magus Pelindar's release, and its circumstances÷I was, naturally, aghast at my father's poor judgment. I hope that you will believe me when I assure you that I did not, and do not, hold the ambassador responsible for my own follies.
Because I believe that this action, carried out in the Sultlue name, may have caused some tension between our selves, I can only hope that you will accept my invitation to join me and a few friends on a Winter Course along the coast which I have planned. We will be meeting at the Goldophin Wharf at two on Withewind 26 to mount our aquatic steeds, the two finest pleasure boats Cislunar can offer. There will be music, food and drink, good conversation, and pleasant company, and I hope we can spend an enjoyable day together before returning to the city by midnight. I have, naturally, included your cousin the Lord Majarra, and Ambassador-Magus Pelindar, among my guests.
I sincerely hope you will attend, and look forward to seeing you anon.
I have the honour to remain, my Lord,
Your Lordship's obediant servant,
Wycliffe Sultlue
To the Honorable Exalt Baron-Filius Secundus Wycliffe Sultlue Octavus
Withewind 25, 850
Dear Exalt Sultlue,
I will freely admit that your invitation caught me entirely by surprise. As you might expect, I was very disturbed when I first learned of Ambassador-Magus Thacarias Pelindar's incarceration. The ambassador is a good friend of my cousin Lord Eyvan Majarra, and has demonstrated himself to me to be a good and honorable man. I do not know your father, and will not presume to judge him, but it is obvious that he did what he thought was best to protect his son. Sparing your reputation further damage did not figure into my desires to see Ambassador Pelindar released, but if it did so, then you may regard yourself as fortunate.
That said, I will gladly accept your invitation to sail along the Cislunar coast. I have been told by many that under the right conditions, floating on the ocean can be a pleasant and relaxing experience. I am eager to see this for myself. I will also be encouraging my cousin and the ambassador to attend. While I take you at your word that you were not responsible for Ambassador Pelindar's predicament, your gracious invitation coupled with a sincere apology to him would go a great way towards establishing your character.
I look foward to meeting you in person.
Yours sincerely,
Philip Ilzimmer II

Exalt,
I must confess that I approached your missive with some reservations; imagine my relief when it became clear that you were not directly involved in the imprisonment of Ambassador-Magus Pelindar. Where the situation did concern and anger me at the time, I choose to believe that your father was simply doing what he felt best to protect his son.
With that in mind it is my pleasure to accept your invitation. I am rather fond of sea-faring, and it will be interesting to see if this Course can instill a similar delight in my Exalted cousin.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Wharf at two.
I have the honor to remain, Exalted,
Your obedient servant,
Eyvan Majarra
