ASSAULT:
Serjeant Bakkish and Constables Dail and Romelius were on night patrol in Southgate when they heard shouts for the watch. A passer-by informed the unit of a nearby brawl in the streets. When the unit arrived, they found five unconscious bodies and traces that others had run or been dragged off. Romelius searched for tracks while Bakkish and Dail examined the bodies. Four had no identification (3 human males, 1 drow male) but one carried the signet of House Raventree (1 human female). The unidentified bodies were manacled and Lady Raventree revived. Romelius reported that there had been from 7 to 8 individuals involved in the brawl. The tracks dispersed down various alleys, and the unit decided not to pursue. At this time a rider joined the group and duly identified himself as Lord Philip Ilzimmer II. He identified one of the human males and the drow as his, and the lady's, companions. All were revived and questioned, and both Lady Raventree and the nobles' companions were released (Human Vair Wintercourt, Drow Damion Korvallis). The two attackers, Ervan and Tarrin, were held for questioning.
Captain Tempkins oversaw the questioning at watch headquarters. Suspects Ervan and Tarrin reported that they and six others had been hired by the bade'in Dominick Stimpson to deter the Lady Raventree and V. Wintercourt from pursuing an investigation into lost gargoyle wings. Said hiring occurred in one Rosie's Bar RE77, Beryl & Crash St., Southgate, at approximately 4:30 p.m. The suspects could reveal no more about said investigation.
At Captain Tempkin's order, Sieurs Ervan and Tarrin were sent up to the Court of General Sessions for sentencing under the First Plaint÷Assault on Nobility, also for Unlawful Assembly, Robbery, and Brandishing a Weapon.
Constables were sent out to question Dominick Stimpson.
Dominick Stimpson was found in his offices of RE11 Sapphire St., Southgate, where he runs a used-goods shop and secondhand bookstore. Constables Romelius and Linden questioned him about his involvement in the aforementioned assault. Sieur Stimpson claimed he had been in his shop for the duration of the workday of Fading 10. Suspect showed records of sale and called on clerk's testimony to support story. Constables questioned suspect for over an hour but returned to file No Charge (see file, Stimpson, D.)
Sieurs Ervan and Tarrin executed.

DIPLOMATIC INCIDENT:
Magus Thacarias Pelindar alerted watch at approximately 3:30 a.m. of a priority-level diplomatic incident against the Free Gargoyles of Cislunar (see file, Pelindar, T.). Unlicensed investigators under his warrant of protection uncovered plot to steal and sell said gargoyles' wings, and confiscated waggon of 200 such wings. 20 members of watch sent to help replace wings. Replacement finished 10:45 a.m. Fad/12/850.

Thax:
Just a quick note÷thanks for the sentencing information. I will be certain to pass it along to my companions.
Speaking of which, what can you tell me about Halkem? I learned little of him other than that he has an alarming tendency to act without thinking, and since I am considering suggesting to this group that we register as a mercenary group (if we intend to continue working together, which I am inclined to believe is the case) I would prefer Halkem to be less of an enigma. Knowing the potential baggage most of this group is carrying is daunting enough÷having a complete unknown along might very well be more strain than my delicate constitution can bear!
Be that as it may, I feel I must thank you for extending me this chance to meet these rather interesting people÷though the only one I know to speak of with any surety is Phillip. (And if you are still interested in the doings of the noble world, he is likely to know far more than I÷he is staying with his aunt, who is commonly known as the Gossip's Guild).
Again, thank you for the information÷and you'd better believe you'll see me at the Blackbriar. You're buying, after all.
Matteo
Anyone who can finish up a whole blueberry melba parfait in under six minutes doesn't have that delicate a constitution.
Halkem Corhas used to travel with the Scarlet Badger Company, a registered mercenary unit that works odd jobs here and there around the Cognoterre. He was pretty young when he joined, maybe thirteen or fourteen, and he only stayed in for four or five years. A friend from the company told me he quit to work as a caravan guard for his father's company, Corhas Spices. I've seen him around town a few times since, but I really don't know anything else about him. He always seemed rather quiet, to me. If it's really important, I can do some digging when I get a spare moment.
Drop by the Blackbriar tomorrow night and I'll pick up dinner. You still owe me the Tale of the Gargoyles' Wings. I've heard Rudy and Hubert's version, but I have a feeling that yours might differ in a few places!
