Geography

(NOTE: Various cities have been keyed to commercially available maps. In such cases, in general the map itself is used and most of the commercial city description has been changed to fit the nature of Samru and the specific city indicated. Terrain indicates major landmarks in the realm; Special Classes & Kits may indicate new classes and kits or local names for already existing classes and kits; Weapons are keyed to the lists in Combat & Tactics pp. 117-127, although often weapons from neighboring realms can also be found in any area; Culture describes the closest Earth-equivalent culture for each area).

There are two major sets of land masses on Samru. The smaller is Yijan Jalil, or the Cognoterre. The Cognoterre is comprised of three continents forming an "O" - Dominarchus to the north, Khes to the south, and Geronfrey situated between the northeast between the two. There are a few islands scattered around these continents. The ocean in the center of the "O" is called the Eavon Ocean in the dominant language of the area. The waters outside the "O" are called collectively the Shadowed Seas, and until recently were unnavigable; ships lost contact with land and never returned once they sailed too far out. Now the technarcane wards that had locked the Cognoterre from the rest of the world have fallen, and passage over the Shadowed Seas is possible.
The second and larger major set of land masses on Samru has no collective name and is shaped somewhat like two "C"s facing each other, one higher than the other. The westernmost "C" is the continent/empire of Sasiru Kian. The easternmost "C" is the continent/empire of the Iron Autocracy. Several smaller landmasses - too large to be properly considered "islands" - surround these landmasses. The waters to the west of these land masses are called "Malaquiant," to the south, "Malabayne," and to the north and east, "Malaprimus." Beneath these waters exists the Empire of the Ebon Depths, based especially in the deeper trenches of the ocean floor.
All of the major continents within these two sets of landmasses extend both above and below the equator, giving each a wide variation in weather and geography.
In addition, there are two ice poles on Samru, the Northern Ice and the Southern Ice.
