Dream, Elianora (Theophany)
Elianora's eyes fly open as her vampiric senses scream at her to awaken, that there is danger near. The vampire hunters already surround her, grim-faced humans clutching stakes and heavy mallets.
"Wha - Why?" She struggles to shake off the daylight torpor, trying to sit up. Two humans put heavily booted feet on her shoulders and slam her back to the ground, heels grinding into her collarbones. Anger flares, but she tries to fight it down, avoid the frenzy delerium that hovers at the edge of her consciousness. She swore long ago that she wouldn't allow herself to give in to her beast. "Wait - I'm not a real vampire ... I don't drink from humans....."
"Well, hell, Mom, this has nothing to do with your little problem," the youngest of the vampire hunters drawls, crouching down to look at her. Greasy hair falls over his shoulders, and his grey eyes were cold and emotionless. "This is a personal grudge."
"Gaetano?" Elianora feels a chill as she searches for some sign of the cheerful little boy she'd once known in this gaunt young man's hard face. "Gaetano - please -"
The youth nods to his companions, who fall on her, calloused hands pressing her against the dirty floor, faces twisted with loathing. She knows none of them. They don't look like the kind of men she'd ever want to know. Frenzy floats like a dark cloud at the edge of her vision, sending the first trickles of adrenalin shivering over her nerves. She can't afford to frenzy. She can't afford to accidently kill her child.
"Your brothers -"
"Dead. I did them a few years ago, with the help of some friends in the Tor." Gaetano hefts a huge wooden stake and drops the point over her heart. The frenzy surges, crimson washing her vision. "I'm a patriot, Mom."
"Gaetano, don't!" Urgent - she has to convince him before she loses control. "Don't! - I love you!"
"Lying bitch." The mallet rises, and Elianora is lost in a red tide of frenzy.
