The Dragon Stars

On the Genesis of Dragons The Types of Dragons
There are 43 stars in Samru's sky, each a different color, which are called the Dragon Stars and each of which has a name, associated dragon, and element. The movement of Samru around Abhasa is regular, and so the seasonal changes in the stars are well-documented and take little effort to memorize for purposes of navigation. The stars, however, have a tendency to shift and change during times of great upheaval on Samru, with some stars vanishing and reappearing years or centuries later. A "falling star" is called a blazedrake, and many stories have been told about blazedrakes that come to earth as gorgeous were-dragons to aid or abet heroes.
The Dragon Stars mark the rise and fall of the dragons-imperate on Samru, those thaumatarchs who have passed beyond the twenty circles of magistry and the ten circles of archmagistry, undergoing the essential revelation. Each ascendate has a link to the darkflux that allows the use of thaumaturgy verus, and these links, or cruxgates, appear in the darkness between the worlds as swirling openings into the irridescent void - thus, the color. When an ascendate dies, the cruxgate closes, until another arises. Blazedrakes are in fact soujourners passing in and out of the crystal sphere, or - perhaps the source of the legends - voiddrakes in the service of the celestial dragons.
Nobody has ever been able to escry the surface of a star. It is believed that whatever stars are made of is resistant to magic. The truth is, of course, that there is nothing material to escry.
