Al Qadim

Bashshar Hadi abd al-Jasir's Three Cohorts

Al Khamsinin al"Jasir (The Sirocco of the Dauntless)

This is the cohort above you, Bashshar's first, consisting of 6 surviving janissaries of the original 10. Of the other four, one died as a youth, two died in battle and one was killed by the cohort itself when she tried to betray them and the palace to a group of yak-men. The members of Al Khamsinin are currently in their 30s.

Aza Asadel abd al-Jasir (m) merchant-rogue: Aza "The Lazy" is a classic hedonist, a handsome man with prematurely greying hair and an impressive moustache and beard. He has a comfortable business selling dyes and makes sure the members of his cohort are always extravagantly but well dressed. He hates combat and his cohort members often rib him about cowardice, although it's good-natured enough to probably not be true.

Faizah Zafirah abd al-Jasir (e/f) sorceror - Water, Wind: Faizah is a desert elf, with short-cropped sandy blond hair and a dark tan. She has a number of beautiful swirling tattoos over her body that are reputedly magical, although nobody in the cohort will affirm this rumor (if it is magic, is is apparently Concealed Wizardry). She is moody, unpredictable, and Aza has been flirting with her for years, probably just to annoy her.

Fudail Hamal abd al-Jasir (m) beggar-thief: Fudail is the youngest in the group, an idealist who always sticks up for the underdog and gives his money to charities. He is stubborn and argues a lot with the rest of the group, especially Aza. There is a softly whispered rumor in the palace that he may be associated with a holy slayer group, but nobody can pin down the rumor and nobody will admit to believing it if questioned.

Ma'isah Numair abd al-Jasir (f) mamluk: Ma'isah is 11th level, according to her mamluk tattoos, a fierce-looking woman with her long hair bound up and a number of scars on her arms (and possibly elsewhere). She shuns the veil and has gotten into more than one brawl with men who have criticized her for shamelessness. In the past few years she's often taught Bashshar a new trick or two after returning from a mission - they sometimes drink together. She owns a Scimitar of Obedience.

Nazih Usamah Sayyid abd al-Jasir (dw/m) pragmatist of Hajama: A kind priest who often cured your bumps and bruises when he was around, Nazih usually fights alongside Ma'isah in battle and is reputedly quite tough. He takes any dare, something that the other cohort members have often used to get him into trouble. Nazih's hobby is raising flowers and he's often found in the palace gardens, tending a new hybrid.

Salimah Khalidah abd al-Jasir (f) sha'ir - Sand: Salimah's earth gen is Dahab. Salimah loves gems and jewels and wears them in her clothing, jewelry, and braided into her long black hair. She is extremely beautiful but has a reputation as a cold-hearted maneater who won't hesitate to use her looks to get what she wants. The rest of the cohort often leave negotiations to her and Aza.

Al Shef [Khabb] al'Bashshar (The Longsword [Cyclone] of Bashshar)

(Shef = nonscimitar sword [also husam, muhannad], khabb=gale or typhoon)

Ammar Jed Lufti abd al-Jasir (dw/m) clockwork mage (NPC): Ammar is only a member of the cohort by virtue of being raised with you. Ever since he took a calling of clockwork mage, he has stayed behind tinkering, and you've seen little of him lately.

Fatin Hammad abd al-Jasir (m) sha'ir - Wind (played by Rob)

Husam al din abd al-Jasir (m) paladin/faris (played by Jaime)

Kristen Salirhem abd al-Jasir (gn/m) rawun (played by Vic)

Nazihah Iman al-Bahr abd al-Jasir(f) hakima (played by Jo)

Qamar bin Qahun al-Asas abd al-Jasir (m) desert rider (played by Cathi)

Rymbaba Shadi abd al-Jasir (m) rawun (played by Bryan and abandoned out of boredom÷now an NPC)

Satima al Yaqut Azraq abd al-Jasir (f) sorceror/digitalogist - Fire, Mirage (played by Jeff)

Tanya Al Rijil abd al-Jasir (f) corsair (played by Bryan÷now arrested and turned into an NPC)

The Third Cohort

This is Bashshar's newest and probably last cohort. The children range in age from 7 to 11 and you see them around the palace, engaged in the same training you went through just years ago. They watch you with wide eyes when you come in from a mission but are being kept too busy to bother you.

Ahmad Hibah abd al-Jasir (m)

Azhar Azim Akeud abd al-Jasir (m): already taking lessons at temple of Najm and likely to take vows as a cleric or paladin.

Baraka Thurayya abd al-Jasir (f)

Basimah Sawsan abd al-Jasir (f)

Dahalzel Matarmeyit abd al-Jasir (go/m): an unusual member of the jannissaries, a goblin child who seems to have some magical talent.

Fakhir Karif Husain abd al-Jasir (m)

Hanbal Marzuq abd al-Jasir (m)

Hasna Nur abd al-Jasir (f)

In'am Hilel min Lel abd al-Jasir (f)

Kalila Jumanah abd al-Jasir (he/f)
