Mother was marriedwell, not officially, but in heart and spiritto Ren Dorolas, a human noble. Oh, Sulisil, they loved each other very much, so much so that they planned a long life together. Politics, however, dictated that such a future would not come easily or soon. Where I, we, come from, the human hatred toward Elves runs very deep. Father knew that mother would be in danger, and so they planned to live apart until he worked his way into a political position that would allow him to drop out of sight. Knowing that he had to be able to support mother, father sacrificed his potential of wealth and power, and settled for lesser greatness, but one which would allow him to reunite with mother. On their last night together, before they separated for what promised to be many years, father conceived you. Mother kept in touch with father via secret messages. Father's second, Vlad Aven, himself secretly part Elven, was sympathetic to father's goals, and to Elves in general, and facilitated their communication. When father heard that mother was pregnant, they decided not to tell the child about their situation. It was a decision that both, I think, regretted in hindsight, but was a decision made with your safety in mind. Oh, Sulisil, if you could know how it pained father to only know of you. Many nights, in remembrance of your loss, he would cry, longing for a chance to have been your father, a good father. When mother stopped communicating with father, he sent his second to investigate. Over the course of several months, Vlad was able to recover mother's body, well, her skeleton, which the butchers so kindly buried to prevent from being bothered by her stench. Unfortunately, you were gone. When Vlad returned with mother's body, and without you, Father had a break down, and was bedridden for several months. While he had the money, he could not get mother raised from the dead due to the political situation. The priests simply would not have done it. The only person he spoke with during that time was Vlad, whom he ordered to send out search teams for you, regardless of the cost. One morning, still stricken with a madness brought on by grief, father packed his traveling gear and set out alone. Vlad tried to follow, but it was no use. Father struck him unconscious. In his madness, Father sought out a witch, which was, until father found her, only a legend. In a dark bargain that father would never discuss again, with me or with mother, he was able to get mother raised from the dead. It was not long before father conceived me, your younger sister. Father gave up more of his political aspirations and wealth than he had planned, and vowed never to be separated from mother again. He rapidly lost political power as he lived away from his province and "took extended traveling vacations." Father and mother lived alone in a remote forest. What money he had, and all of his estates profits, went into searching you out. He kept up the search for thirty years, before giving up. On the night after he ordered Vlad to halt the searches, he died of natural causes in his sleep. When I turned twenty, I traveled to the Elven lands to study magic. When father died, I went to get mother and bring her back to the homelands with me. We lived peacefully in a small Elven village for ten years. It was during that time that I began to study the planes with my magical mentor, Astreides Lillenhall. My theory, correct it seems, was that you had left the plane, and I hoped to find you one day. After about 10 years, ((she starts crying)) the village was raided by slavers. Astreides and I were able to escape, mother was not. We searched for the captured villagers. We think we found their location, but were not able to penetrate it before Astreides was bitten and poisened by a BloodBat. I took her back to the village, barely alive. Our cleric has been captured, and another village was days away. I am sorry to say that she died. On our plane, life is not easily returned. Before she died, she gave me a scroll. Apparently, a planar creatureno, not creature, a planar being, named Indowed Astreides a favor. I used the scroll to alert Ind, who showed up several weeks later. He could not bring Astreides back to life, but he said that he could help me find you. We spent a month on the Astral Plane before getting a lead, which after another month, ultimately led me to the Elven Lands here. Ind decided that it was too dangerous anywhere else. After a debt payed back in full, Ind leftI am to find my own way home.
