Danny's parents were indeed slain by Xill, and Danny was in fact taken in by his godparents at age 13. From here, however, things are somewhat different from the common story. Even before his parents' deaths, Danny was on his way to becoming a fighter and a rogue. The Xill Hills only support rugged survivalists, and early on, Danny's natural father trained him to fight, and hide when necessary. Danny has recounted many a story to you about the horrid Xill Hills, their foreboding atmosphere, and their reclusive, untrusting farming inhabitants.

Danny's godfather was an abusive alcoholic and taught him nothing but how to be cruel: cruel to women, children, animals, and himself. Unfortunately, at the age of 13, Danny was impressionable and sorely needed a father figure. His godmother, Siam, in an attempt to keep Danny away from Vairdom, taught Danny magic while Vairdom tended the crops. This may have been the only thing that kept the spark of redemption alive in Danny, but at the time, Danny grew into an abusive rebel, joining his godfather in drink and cruelty.

At the age of 18, Ceryebrand Lillensall and Oborax GreatMaul arrived just prior to a Hobgoblin raid on the farm. They informed the family of the raid and offered to help÷for a price! Indeed, their price was steep, almost a year's earning for the family, and Vairdom initially refused their help. Ceryebrand and Oborax took the refusal casually, and made themselves at home on top of a fence post. Vairdom, not wanting trouble, let them be for the while. Sure enough, the Hobgoblins arrived just after sunset. Ceryebrand and Oborax watched as the family initially tried to defend itself. Due to a lucky crossbow show, Siam was killed instantly, and Vairdom eventually broke down and offered Ceryebrand and Oborax the money for their help. They were true to their word, but in the end demanded their money and left. Danny, enraged at his godmother's death, chased after them and attacked Oborax. Danny remembers getting a lucky shot in himself, knocking Oborax out in one blow, but was soon put to sleep by Ceryebrand.

Danny woke up in a cave next to Ceryebrand, who was tending Oborax's head. Ceryebrand told Danny that she was intrigued by his bravery and fighting prowess, and decided to allow him to join the adventuring duo. Ceryebrand told Danny that after he was put to sleep, Vairdom fell to his knees and pleaded for his own life, claiming that Danny was a recent and untrustworthy boarder. Ceryebrand knew otherwise÷in fact, she and Oborax knew quite a bit of information about the surrounding farms÷and figured that since no one else cared for Danny, she and Oborax would be willing to take him in. Ceryebrand told a convincing tale about how it was, after all, the Hobgoblins who killed his godmother, and how it was Vairdom who decided not to heed their warning and accept their services; sure, Ceryebrand admitted, she and Oborax were mercenaries, but not vicious.

In hindsight, Danny believes that he might have been charmed, at least initially, and this is why he decided to accept Ceryebrand's offer (on the other hand, Danny realizes that this is just an excuse, and takes full responsibility for his actions). To Danny's knowledge, Ceryebrand Lillensall, a half-elf enchanter, and Oborax GreatMaul, a Dwarven anti-ranger, were both about fifth level when they first met; Danny was a second-level fighter, a first-level mage, and a second-level rogue. Ceryebrand and Oborax had a spy inside the Hobgoblin camp and were able to get their raid knowledge. They would then either bargain with the Hobgoblins for noninterference, with the farmers for protection, or with both. In two years, the trio managed to gain a positive reputation with the locals, albeit as mercenary protectors. The truth, however, is that many innocent farmers, and Hobgoblins for that matter, met predictable deaths as the trio played each community against the other for their own profit. In those years, Ceryebrand, Oborax, and Danny became extremely close friends. When their Hobgoblin spy was finally killed, the trio moved to Glenzor.

In Glenzor, the trio began to work for a lesser noble, an Orc named Sontam GutDweller. Sontam was÷and still is÷well-connected with the Shadow Brotherhood, and their initial jobs were covertly geared toward advancing the Brotherhood's ends. Early on, Danny joined the Brotherhood, and was initiated into the Circle of Fear. The trio adventured for Sontam for a little over a year.

On what came to be their final mission, in the hills north of Glenzor, the trio was investigating the disruption of trade routes by Hill Trolls. As usual, Oborax scouted out the Hill Troll lair, and returned with information used to plan their ambush. When the trio advanced into the Trolls' camp, however, Ceryebrand and Danny realized that Oborax had set them up for an ambush. Danny only remembers fighting the Trolls for a few seconds before being knocked unconscious.

Danny woke up in a cave next to several priests of Tyr. Apparently, four priests of Tyr had been independently investigating the Hill Troll threat to the local community and happened upon the ambush. The priests killed the Trolls, but not before Ceryebrand was killed and Oborax had escaped (Danny believes that Oborax is currently in Parthinon somewhere; if encountered, he will attempt to bring him to justice, but Danny is not vengeful). This, however, was all revealed after Danny recovered. On the brink of death, literally in the lap of Tyr's servants, Danny claims to have had an immensely powerful religious experience, wherein he was brought before a tribunal of priests of Tyr and forced to relive his many treacheries and injustices. In the end, Danny saw the error of his ways, and begged the tribunal for forgiveness. Danny recovered from his injuries and returned to Glenzor with the priests.

Danny was now in a tremendous bind, for he was a member of the Shadow Brotherhood÷moreover, of the Circle of Fear÷and working for Sontam, a Brotherhood operative. Immediately upon his return, before he had a chance to plan his withdrawal from his now-relinquished way of life, the Circle of Fear ordered Danny to Arthinon. Danny knew this was coming, as the Circle often uprooted new recruits to test and develop their loyalties. He could not refuse the order without being "dealt with," so he accepted.

Little did Danny know that he was one of the many operatives sent by the Brotherhood to serve and protect Military Commander Chullin on a two-year mission of military spying. The mission was largely a success, but as Chullin and his Brotherhood aides were preparing to leave port for Glenzor, they were discovered and attacked. Eventually, the majority of the spy party was killed or knocked unconscious by spells and melee, Chullin's bodyguards were dead, and Chullin himself was almost unconscious. Danny managed to help Chullin on to the ship, taking multiple arrows in the back that were meant for the commander. On the deck of the ship was the dead body of the Brotherhood mage÷and his spell books! Danny took a chance and read the Teleport spell from the books.

Upon returning, Chullin offered Danny a position as one of the Dynasty's honor guard tacticians÷a prestigious, well-paying desk job coordinating the honor guard for various Dynasty events and persons. Despite this job, Danny knew that he would still be obliged to perform contractual work for the Circle of Fear. Thus, Danny was tactically enthusiastic about serving the throne, but asked if he could, instead, take a City Guard Watch Commander position, instead. Asking for a different position was bold and risky; but Orcs are a bold race, and asking for the more physically demanding, less-prestigious, yet more dedicated position paid off and was granted. Most importantly, Watch Command is a time-consuming position, and Chullin pulled strings with the Circle of Fear to exempt Danny from routine contracts.

From the age of 23 to 29, then, Danny worked his way up the ranks in the Glenzor Military. During this time, he was used primarily as an undercover agent, infiltrating various organizations, villages, towns, etc., spying for the military. This still put Danny in an awkward position÷everything evil about his former self revolved around treason and disloyalty, and his double-agent job description put him in just that position. There were several missions, Danny admits, where his internal fight with his former self got out of hand, causing him to lose control of his senses. Thankfully, none of these fits compromised his position, but many resulted in indifference or cruelty; thus his split-personality reputation among many of the city guardsmen.

It was on his first undercover mission that he learned about the Heritage of Truth, an underground religious/political group led by Scariconicus BloodSifter, Zed's son. On this mission, Danny became a triple agent, giving information to both sides at first and then intentionally misinforming the military for the final raid. Unbeknownst to Danny, there was a spy in his ranks from the Gray Mask Society (the Parthinonian Thieves' Guild), who, despite having no hand in the botched raid, was uncovered during the resulting inquisition, blamed, and put to death. Danny escaped the inquisition without suspicion.

Because Danny is one of the most informed people about the Heritage, as part of his job he is informed on a regular basis of the military's knowledge of their activities. To protect Danny's information and loyalties, the Heritage paid for an Oath Protection to be cast on Danny by the temple of Tyr. This was done on a subsequent mission in Parthinon at Tyr's Grand Cathedral. Oath Protection is a specialized spell, allowing the recipient to undetectably lie about an oath should telling the truth compromise the oath. These two factors÷continuous information and Oath Protection÷allow Danny to pass the constant mind probes of the government.

The rest of Danny's life is fairly public. At the age of 30 he was promoted to Uruk Hai Haiin and put in charge of tactical advisement with regard to the Elvish Retribution Raids. Last year he was put in command of a 250-troop unit and sent to war.

Danny is triple classed: fighter (7), magic-user (8), assassin (7).
