PERSONALITIES IN THE FRATERNITY OF ORDER
Sorscha joins the Fraternity of Order shortly after Angel and Violet leave, and somewhat before Aster joins the Godsmen. Like most Aides, she spends her first three weeks in City Court, sleeping in the dormitory and working dawn to dusk filing, sorting, cross-referencing, and otherwise carrying out the small but necessary duties required to keep a bureaucracy running.
Sorscha's coworkers in the Bureau of City Services, where she has been assigned, become her closest associates during her apprenticeship. Nobody asks her much about herself -- polite disinterest is common in Sigil -- but they'll listen with interest if she tells them about her prime, customs or race, and volunteer some of their own stories as they work. Apparently albino half-orc/half-elves are pretty uncommon even here in Sigil. (Although Khevan will mention that the factol of the Bleak Cabal is a half-orc -- "barmy as hell, no doubt, but a canny cutter, not half as bad as you'd think, what with him setting up the soup kitchens and all that.") However, after the first double-take many do, she's welcomed for her self and her support of the faction with no further prejudice.
After Sorscha is permitted to leave the dormitories to live back in her own house again, she still works in the same Bureau while doing her mandatory hours of work in the City Court.
Administrator (A4) Sowa Mbuya (male prime human, 55 years old): Mbuya is Sorscha's supervisor in the Bureau of City Services. Mbuya is tall, dark black in skin color, with short-cropped curly black hair and brown eyes (ch: 13). He was clearly once in good shape, although years behind a desk have clearly softened him. Mbuya is stern but indifferent, too busy to concern himself with his Aides as long as everything is running efficiently.
Khevan (male bariaur planar): Khevan has been working in the Bureau for three months already, and shows Sorscha around when she first arrives. He has a goat's body, with a human's torso, arms and head -- much like Aster with four legs, except Khevan's face is more animal-like and he has a proud curling pair of ram's horns on his head. His pelt and hair is dyed and shaved in intricate patterns of blue and purple, and his human body tattooed similarly. He's easy-going and pleasant to be with and professes an interest in becoming an advocate in the courts someday, "because I found that I enjoy arguing and thought to myself, why not get paid for it, you fool?!" He isn't necessarily brilliant, but he does possess a stubborn stick-to-itness that permits him to surmount many problems.
Spitfire Kent (female human planar): Spitfire worked in the Bureau only a month before Sorscha's coming. She is very slight and small, with flowing black hair, golden brown skin, and pale brown, almost amber eyes (ch: 12). As fragile as she seems, however, she isn't worried about her safety in Sigil -- she's a fire mage and has the temper to match. Although she's fine to work with most of the time, when something annoys her -- like incompetence -- she blows up, verbally searing anyone near her. Sorscha once saw her chewing out a Harmonium guard twice her size and three times her width ... and saw the Hardhead wince and back off, holding up his hands in apology. Spitfire also likes to go out and vent some of her steam with a few ales and a fierce game of darts, and invites her coworkers with her.
Alvis Gunnar Godric Siggeir Solblindi Skafith Vindolf Mjothvitnir (male dwarf planar): Alvis Gunnar Godric Siggeir Solblindi Skafith Vindolf Mjothvitnir is a newcomer to the Bureau, like Sorscha. He's a fine figure of a dwarf, with golden-red hair, a long braided beard, bright blue eyes and ruddy skin (ch: 15). A priest of Dugmaren Brightmantle -- god of invention and discovery -- he joined the Guvnors to learn more about the laws that govern all inventions and creations. He loves the city's blueprints, especially, and tends to pore over what maps and blueprints exist (they tend to change a lot due to the dabus) in his spare time. Alvis Gunnar Godric Siggeir Solblindi Skafith Vindolf Mjothvitnir doesn't like nicknames, and accepts the "Alvis" bestowed him by others with a wince and shudder. Shortening a man's name, Sorscha overheard him explain to Khevan once, is like shortening a man's -- er, never mind, he stops himself when he notices Sorscha within earshot.
